The Tigers played their first game in Tiger Stadium on June 15, 1948.
Denny Mclain won the Cy Young Award and the American League Most Valuable Player award in 1968.
In 1987 Alan Trammell became the first Tiger since Al Kaline in 1955, to have 200 hits and 100 RBI's.
Manager Sparky Anderson was the first manager to win a World Series in both leagues. In 1975-76 Cincinnati in the National League, and in 1984 Detroit in the American League.
